Thursday's AM Workout

We had a good morning workout today. In fact, it might have been great, but I'm not ready to offer that kind of praise just yet. If we can continue with that type of workout, and with that intensity, then they will be great, and WE WILL BE GREAT.

Group B will lift this afternoon, and then workout in the gym tomorrow morning. Group A will lift tomorrow afternoon.

We have a BIG recruiting weekend planned - Be prepared to work hard.

Quote of the Day

"A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both."

Message from Coach Beason

Bisons,

Read below an email from a guy in charge of the cafeteria. He is wanting YOUR INPUT on how they can help you with your food needs. This would be a great thing to attend if you have any knowledge of nutrition and are willing to help get our team better support in the cafeteria. What you put in your mouth definitely affects your energy level, your body composition and weight, and your overall look and feel. If you are willing to serve your teammates by attending this meeting, let me know. This could benefit us greatly!

Coach,

I was wandering if you had any athletes that might want to come to our food committee meeting this Thursday, Jan 28 at 1pm. I know it is short notice and if there is not time to ask any one I understand. We just thought it might be good for some athletes to come and give us their suggestions for how we can better serve their dietary needs.

Thanks!

Message from Coach Beason

Bisons,

Group B1 is in the Weight Room at 3:15pm TODAY. Group B2 is in the Weight Room at 4:15pm TODAY.

EVERYONE needs to be in the GANUS GYM by 4pm on Thursday (tomorrow) for WAR BALL. Don't be late! Let's do a great job again with our recruits.

On Friday, you have the option of lifting at 6am OR in the afternoon with your group. If you don't lift at 6am, Groups A1 and A2 would lift at 3:15pm and Groups B1 and B2 would lift at 4:15pm. If you lift in the morning, then you are OFF in the afternoon.

Someone left their gray sweat top in the gym this morning. If you can identify the number, then it is in my office.

It is SO CRUCIAL that you are eating lots of calories (the right kind) and drinking lots of water, along with getting lots of sleep. Be disciplined!

Friday's workout is as follows:

6:00 AM - anybody

Group A will lift this afternoon, with A1 at 3:15, and A2 to follow.

Quote of the Day

"[L]ife cannot be understood flat on a page. It has to be lived; a person has to get out of his head, has to fall in love, has to memorize poems, has to jump off bridges into rivers, has to stand in an empty desert and whisper sonnets under his breath . . . We get one story, you and I, and one story alone. God has established the elements, the setting and the climax and resolution. It would be a crime not to venture out, wouldn't it?"

Timothy Hill Children's Ranch

I can't wait to return to the ranch this spring break with a bunch of unselfish warriors who are looking forward to serving others.

Here is a link to the Ranch's site. Below is an excerpt from the site that inspires me every time I read it.

Jerry Hill, the founder of THCR, was initially a preacher in Riverhead, NY throughout the 60's & 70's. He and his wife Fern opened their home and hearts to dozens of foster children who were homeless and in need of temporary housing. Their older son Timothy saw the painful hardships and emotional suffering that the children had endured, and was deeply affected. He told his parents he wanted someday to "build a place where homeless kids could live, be loved, feel safe, and have wide open spaces to ride horses."

Timothy began working at age 12 to save money for the land where his dream could become a reality. He worked 3 paper routes and had already begun contacting real estate agents in search of property. His mother, Fern, recalls fielding several return calls from disgruntled real estate agents. She simply explained to them that she could not discourage her son from following his dream.

On May 11, 1972, a tragic bicycle-truck accident ended Timothy's life at the young age of 13. His mother, wanting a way to commemorate his life, wrote a book entitled, "Graduation to Glory," which recounted Timothy's altruistic years and his visionary dream of opening up a ranch for homeless children. Friends and neighbors responded spontaneously by creating a memorial fund earmarked "for Timothy's ranch". Jerry and Fern adopted their son's dream and God has blessed the journey ever since. Timothy Hill Children's Ranch (THCR) opened its doors for the first time on November 15, 1980. For 28 years, THCR has been a safe haven for hundreds of children during a desperate time of abuse, neglect, and crisis. It is a 70 acre, farm-style campus, located in Riverhead, NY.
