Jeremy Holt Earns Honorable Mention Preseason All-America



SEARCY – Harding University senior kick returner Jeremy Holt was named an honorable mention Preseason All-American by Consensus Draft Services on Monday.

Holt (5-9, 180), who is a starting slot back in Harding's option offense, earned 2nd Team All-Gulf South Conference honors last season as a special teams player. He returned 25 punts for 176 yards (7.0 avg.) and 19 kickoffs for 440 yards (23.2 avg.). He ranked fifth in the GSC in kickoff return average and 10th in punt return average.

Holt's junior season was his first as a kickoff and punt returner for the Bisons.

A management major from Nashville, Tenn., Holt has also been outstanding in the classroom while at Harding. He earned Academic All-GSC honors in 2010 and has twice been on the GSC Academic Honor Roll.

Holt flourished last season as the “pitch-man” in the option. He ranked second on the team with 527 rushing yards on 66 carries (8.0 avg.) with three touchdowns. Holt was ninth in the GSC with 52.7 rushing yards per game.

Holt and the Bisons open the 2011 season on Sept. 3 against Southern Arkansas in Magnolia.
