BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Harding University senior defensive back Josh Jones was named Gulf South Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Jones earned his first-ever weekly honor, leading Harding to a 49-41 triple-overtime home win over Southwest Baptist by making two key plays in the final overtime. Jones racked up 15 tackles, including eight solo stops and a half-sack. He also intercepted a pass and returned it for 30 yards, recovered one fumble and broke up two passes. The Carson, Calif., native's interception led to a Bison field goal while both pass breakups came in the Harding end zone. Jones made a game-saving tackle on Harding's three-yard line in the final overtime then recovered a fumbled Southwest Baptist snap, icing the victory.
