Notables from the victory over Southwest Baptist

Below is a list of records and highlights from Harding University's 49-41 victory over Southwest Baptist in triple overtime Saturday (and almost Sunday) at First Security Stadium in Searcy, Ark.

Most total plays - 127

  • Set a new Harding and GSC record ... only three short of the NCAA II record of 130 set by Southwest Baptist in 2007
  • Old Harding record was 103 set last season at Southwest Baptist.
  • 70 rushing plays was tied for third in a Harding single game and was the most rushing plays since rushing 70 times against Arkansas A&M in 1970.
  • 57 passes were the seventh-most ever attempted by a Harding team.

Most first downs - 41

  • Broke the Harding and GSC record of 39 set last season vs. Arkansas Tech.
  • One short of the NCAA Division II record set by Delaware in 1973.

Turnovers forced - 9 (5 fumbles recovered, 4 interceptions)

  • Tied the school record, last set in 1980 vs. Lane.

Most total offensive plays, individual - 82, Josh Powell

  • Powell rushed 25 times and threw 57 passes
  • Old record was 79 by David Knighton last season at Southwest Baptist.

Tied for second most fumbles recovered - 5

  • Last recovered five fumbles vs. Henderson State in 2004 (record is seven).

Dominic Blood's three rushing touchdowns tied for second in a single game.

  • Last player to rush for three touchdowns in a game was Robert Lolohea vs. Arkansas-Monticello in 2002.

Harding gained 594 yards of total offense, third-most in an HU single game.

  • It was the most yards gained since posting a school-record 674 vs. Arkansas Tech in 2007.

Josh Jones had 15 tackles, tied for fourth-most in a game by a Bison since tackles became an official NCAA stat in 2000.

  • Sevohn Greer had 19 tackles vs. Ouachita Baptist last season.

Dominic Blood scored 20 points in the game, sixth in an HU single game.

  • It was the most points by a Bison player since Robert Lolohea scored 24 points against Ouachita Baptist in 2002.

Josh Powell had 428 yards of total offense (sixth in an HU single game)
